Siemens delivers gas turbines and generators to Mexico

Siemens has received an order for two SGT6-5000F gas turbines and two SGEN6-1000 generators to be installed in Mexico, the plant will have a capacity of 550mW enough to power 300,000 homes.

The equipment will be used in two 1×1 configurations for the Tula 1 and 2 combined cycle power blocks. Together, the two combined cycle blocks will have an installed capacity of 550 megawatts (mW) enough to power 300,000 homes. The order has been placed by Avanzia, the EPC contractor that will build the two combined cycle power plants for the state owned utility Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) in Mexico. The commercial operation date is scheduled for summer 2017.

The two new plants are located in Tula, in the municipalities of Hidalgo in central Mexico. The SGT6-5000F gas turbines will be operated with natural gas. With more than 10,200,000 hours of fleet operation this gas turbine achieves peak values for reliability of higher than 99 – the highest performance values in its class.

Siemens has a strong presence in the Mexican power market which is developing at a fast pace.
