Specialty gas and advanced materials supplier Electronic Fluorocarbons (EFC) has partnered with science company Solvay to supply Solvay products to the North American semiconductor market.
Under an exclusive distribution agreement announced yesterday (8th Dec), EFC will market, distribute and provide local storage for Solvay’s cleaning gas products, including its fluorine gas mixture Solvaclean.
Semiconductor chip manufacturers use a variety of gases in their processes to pattern silicon wafers. After a while, the process chambers must be cleaned. Developed as a cleaning solution for process chambers, Solvaclean is a fluorine-based gas that replaces potentially environmentally harmful cleaning gases such as hexafluoroethane, carbon tetrafluoride and nitrogen trifluoride.
Commenting on the new partnership, Ziad Haddad, North America Business Director, Electronic Chemicals at Solvay, enthused, “We are excited to partner with EFC, which has strong relationships with the semiconductor manufacturers and is ideally positioned to get our products to our customers as quickly as possible.”
