Stena takes part in ‘important’ LNG partnership

With a wider eye on advancing the transition from traditional sources of energy to lower carbon sources, two major players in the development of liquefied natural gas (LNG) usage have joined forces to identify and advance LNG logistics and storage solutions.

Stena Power and LNG Solutions, subsidiary of shipping giant Stena AB is working with energy storage terminal company Global Energy Storage (GES), bringing their shared expertise in floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs) to onshore terminal and jetty solutions.

With LNG being seen as a key in the energy transition, the partners see the fuel as particularly important for emerging markets.

Commenting on other opportunities presented by LNG such as blue hydrogen production, Peter Vucins, CEO, GES, said, “We are also interested in exploring opportunities with regards to blue hydrogen production where LNG is combined with carbon capture to make low carbon hydrogen.”
