Successful start-up of Hangyang hydrogen expanders

Two sets of hydrogen compressor-expander units designed and developed by a subsidiary of Hangzhou Hangyang Group have been successfully commissioned at a Chinese petrochemical complex.

The units, commissioned at the new Shouguang Luqing Petrochemical Complex in July, are used in the cold box separation system of the 200,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) iso-butane hydrogen removal project of Luqing Petrochemical.

The expanders were designed and developed by Hangzhou Hangyang Expanders Company, the first of their kind by Hangyang and a Chinese company, according to a statement by the company. The successful commissioning of the units has ‘lifted the design and manufacturing capability of Hangyang to a new level’ and will alleviate the reliance on import products for such applications, it added.
