Marine pump specialist Svanehøj has secured an order of 98 electric cargo pumps for seven liquefied natural gas (LNG)/liquefied biogas (LBG)-fuelled chemical and product tankers.
Announced today (22nd Dec), the order was made by FureBear – a joint venture company comprised of Swedish Furetank AB and Canadian Algoma Central Corporation formed to construct eight LNG/LNG-fuelled ice class 1A chemical and product tankers (17,999 DTW) to trade in Northern Europe.
The new order will see Svanehøj initially supplying the JV with 14 electric deep well cargo pumps for the first seven of the eight tankers, amounting to 98 pumps for delivery at China Merchant Jinling Shipyard in Yanhzhou, where the new vessels will be built between 2023 and 2025.
The order comes at the end of a successful year for the marine pump specialist, which recorded an all-time high revenue due to a growth of around 70% while maintain an ‘exceptionally high’ order intake of more than DKK 700m ($100m).
