The Gas Review reports that on 13th April, the industrial-academic alliance of Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corporation (TNSC), Osako University and Hanoi University of Science and Technology agreed to the planned establishment of a training centre in Vietnam.
Located in Hanoi, the centre will introduce new welding technologies to the local people. In Vietnam the personnel shortage of welding engineers has been causing the current sluggish industrialisation. The plan seems to back the realisation of ‘Industry-based Country in 2020’ which the Vietnamese Government targets.
TNSC and the Joining and Welding Research Institute of Osaka University have long been working with each other in the field of R&D on welding in Japan. On the other hand, Osaka University has had something to do with the welding course of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, including receipt of trainees from Vietnam.
This alliance originated when Osaka University knew that TNSC’s local subsidiary Vietnam Japan Gas (VJG) was making similar activities including receipt of local students while Osaka University was exploring to have a research base in Vietnam. It caused an approach for the joint research.
