Spanish engineering company Técnicas Reunidas has signed an agreement with France-based energy solutions expert Axens to install carbon capture and storage (CCS) facilities based on Axens’ CCS technology.
The collaboration will see both companies attempting to accelerate net-zero emission goals by lowering carbon emissions in hard-to-abate sectors such as the chemical, steel, cement, and paper industries.
This will involve Tecnicas taking lead for the construction of CCS technology developed by Axens.
Although considered by many energy organisations as a vital aspect of achieving net zero targets by 2030, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA), CCS technology and adoption is not being scaled up fast enough to meet these goals.
