Taking place between 30th November – 12th December, the UN’s 28th Conference of Parties – or COP28 – provides an opportunity for the global community to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy while focusing on phasing out fossil fuel emissions.

The summit so far has seen a series of pledges on finance, food systems, renewable energy, reducing the use of coal and the backing from major oil and gas companies to cut carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane.

Often overshadowed by atmospheric CO2, methane is a potent greenhouse gas (GHG) that has a 100-year global warming potential 28-34 times that of CO2.
