For industrial gas giant Air Products, clean energy projects were a key focus throughout 2022. Having invested heavily in a number of hydrogen and carbon capture sites, in addition to other large-scale developments across the globe, the company hopes to support a cleaner and greener future.
Such ambition soon became clear when gasworld recently sat down with Francesco Maione, President of Air Products Americas, for the first instalment of the 12 Days of Content series, when we looked back at the industrial gas year that was.
Thank you for taking the time to talk to us, Francesco. Why don’t you start off by telling us what you think has been the most exciting application or growth driver for industrial gases this year…
This year, the most exciting growth driver in industrial gases is the growing momentum for the energy transition and the large steps North American governments have taken to spur growth, such as the recently passed Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) in the US and the hydrogen strategy in Canada. There appears to be real momentum for action, and these activities could spur other countries to take additional steps to build the hydrogen market around the world.
