Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corporation (TNSC) recently revealed that it has entered into an agreement with IMEC to develop manufacturing technology for high efficiency light-emitting diode (LED) devices.
As the first such collaboration made by TNSC with a Europe based advanced research centre, the two companies formed an agreement for the development of an efficient green LED device solution, which would be based on the compound semiconductors device technology of IMEC.
The news also follows the April announcement that TNSC subsidiary Matheson Tri-Gas would be working together with IBM to develop the next generation of semiconductor technology for 32nm and beyond.
Recognising demand
The two companies recognise the increased demands for the development of brighter, green LED’s that can be applied in the coming generations as the back light for high vision LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) televisions.
