UK Government responds to UNICEF Uganda’s oxygen appeal

The UK Government has responded to UNICEF Uganda’s oxygen appeal through a £500,000 ($708,000) commitment for an increase in oxygen production and delivery to support the country’s fight against coronavirus (Covid-19)

Immediate benefits of the new capital from the UK include purchased of 100 7,500-litre oxygen cylinders for Mulago National Referral Hospital, Namboole Covid-19 Treatment Centre, Soroti Regional Referral Hospital, Mbale Regional Referral Hospital and Moroto Regional Referral Hospital.

Further to that, the UK’s support will enable the procurement and installation of a new oxygen plant, in Kayunga Referral Hospital, boosting Uganda’s oxygen production capabilities. 

The UK Government’s support also includes increased availability and delivery of personal protective equipment.
