At today’s COP26 Science and Innovation Day the UK Government aims to commit to newly announced initiatives centred around accelerating innovation and low carbon transitions in industry and cities.
Sir Patrick Vallance, Chief Scientific Adviser, UK Govt, will focus on the importance of science and innovation when it comes to reaching Paris Agreement goals.
One such initiative to be launched today is the Adaptation Research Alliance (ARA), a network of more than 90 organisations across 30 economies coming together to increase the resilience of climate change-vulnerable communities.
The development of clean technologies for cities, industry, carbon dioxide (CO2) removal, and the production of renewable fuels and materials will also be accelerated with the formation of Mission Innovation’s four new ‘innovation missions’.
