Continued US leadership in semiconductor design is essential to the country’s sustained leadership in semiconductors, but there are challenges to be addressed along the way.
That’s according to a new report from the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) and the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) that states the US private sector will need to invest $400bn to $500bn in semiconductor design over the next 10 years to maintain leadership.
Alongside identifying needed capital investments, the report identifies three factors as headwinds for the US as it looks to enhance its semiconductor market:
