French industrial tube manufacturer, Vallourec Umbilicals (Vallourec) has been awarded a contract to supply 200 km worth of tubes for a Norwegian carbon capture and storage project in the North Sea.
The ‘groundbreaking’ project will see the capture, transport and geological storage of industrial carbon dioxide emissions.
Commenting on the contract, Stéphane Chrobot, Managing Director, Vallourec, said, “Today, the manufacture of laser welded super-duplex tubes for subsea umbilicals is our core business.”
“Being qualified for such CCUS projects, as demanding as offshore oil & gas applications, gives us a new opportunity to prove our tubes are highly efficient, reliable and competitive.”
