The Government of Canada is investing $4.3m to help Canadians get into zero-emission vehicles and use low carbon fuels.
Three companies are set to benefit from the funding including Hydrogen Technology & Energy Corporation (HTEC) who will install a retail hydrogen (H2) fuelling station in the Vancouver area. The station is part of a six-station network HTEC is building in British Columbia’s Lower Mainland and Victoria to encourage uptake of more H2-fuelled vehicles.
“Building green infrastructure paves the way to a low-carbon future by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Our government is proud to make investments that will reduce costs and address potential hurdles for the deployment of next-generation electric vehicle charging infrastructure in urban areas,” enthused Terry Beech, Member of Parliament for Burnaby North–Seymour.
“Zero-emission, H2-fuelled fuel cell electric vehicles are entering markets globally and will help Canada meets its clean air and carbon emission reduction targets. HTEC is proud to be working with partners like the Government of Canada to build out B.C.’s retail H2 refuelling network and support initial FCEV rollouts,” added Colin Armstrong, President and CEO of Hydrogen Technology & Energy Corporation.
