US liquefied natural gas (LNG) provider Venture Global has signed a deal with Polish Oil and Gas Company (PGNiG) which will see the Polish oil and gas provider being supplied with two million tonnes of LNG per annum sourced from resource rich North American natural gas basins.
Excited about the 20-year agreement, Mike Sabel, CEO, Ventural Global, said, “Pivoting towards cleaner natural gas from the United States will not only increase Poland’s energy security but also decrease its carbon emissions, and Venture Global looks forward to supporting our partner PGNiG in these efforts for years to come.”
The Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) builds upon previous SPA’s signed by the companies in 2018, bringing the total volume of LNG that PGNiG has agreed to purchase from Venture Global to 5.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) from.4 MTPA.
Pawel Majewski, President, PGNiG Management Board, emphasised the importance of the deal in providing a “bridge fuel” in the process of energy transition within the Polish economy.
