Woodside signs LNG MOU targeting India

Perth, Australia, based Woodside Petroleum has signed a MOU with India’s Adani Enterprises as it aims to benefit from India’s emerging LNG market.

A signing ceremony in Gujarat was held to celebrate the deal, which was attended by Australian trade minister Andrew Robb.

The agreement will foster stronger ties between Woodside and Adani, with a pledge to work together in identifying and developing new business opportunities in the LNG sector. Adani is seen keen to tap into both Woodside’s resources and technological expertise in the sector, while Woodside benefits by having a strong local partner with which to work alongside.

“India is an important emerging LNG market in which we see enormous supply potential as infrastructure is developed,” Woodside Chief Executive Peter Coleman said, adding, “Adani is at the forefront of the LNG industry in India and committed to developing partnerships to support securing reliable long-term supplies of clean energy.”
