World’s first hydrogen motorbike hits the road

The world’s first hydrogen powered motorbike has been developed by Intelligent-Energy, Leicestershire UK, with the developers suggesting that full production will begin by the end of the year.

The Emissions Neutral Vehicle, or ENV for short, can accelerate up to a top speed of 50mph with a range of 100 miles, powered by a hydrogen fuel-cell emitting nothing more polluting than water and silence.

At a cost of £6,000 ($11,000), it isn’t cheap for a small bike and it is believed that the bike will be targeted towards city users and commuters as an environmentally friendly way to get to work.

Currently hydrogen refuelling is limited within the UK, making usage of the bike constrained, though the developers believe this will change over the following years as more and more hydrogen power vehicles hit the roads forcing the automotive industry to build the necessary hydrogen refuelling infrastructure.
