Operator of the largest global ammonia network, Yara Clean Ammonia, has joined the HyPilot project – an initiative launched by PEM electrolyser manufacturer Hystar to test its one megawatt (MW) containerised electrolyser.
Taking place under realistic field conditions, the HyPilot test will run for a total of 10,000 hours, during which Hystar and its partners (including Equinor and Gassco) will gather performance data to aid with future commercialisation.
Following testing, the electrolyser is set to be commissioned in the second half of 2023 at the Kårstø Gas Processing Plant in Rogaland, Norway, operated by Gassco.
